SighiÅoara

Saw this funeral procession when leaving Maramures

The beautiful Transylvanian landscapes, esp so in autumn

Enroute to SighiÅoara, we stop over a night at Târgu MureÅ. One of the recommended guesthouse there is the Ana-Marie Pensiune

The breakfast at Ana-Marie has some really good jam

Common breakfast items

The yummy jam is actually home-made, and they have jars and jars of condiments in their basement!

The mornings are still as misty as ever

Roadside vendors selling their stuff in the mists.

The highlight of SighiÅoara is The Citadel. The Citadel is now an old medieval town, complete with cobbled streets, and is listed in UNESCO as a World Heritage Site

SighiÅoara is the birthplace of Dracula, and thus, this fact is well capitalised everywhere in the old town

Perched atop a hill, the Citadel provides a birds-eye view of the town below

The most outstanding feature and building in the Citadel, the Clock Tower

Lots of Pensiune in the Citadel

The clock tower dates back 1280, and now houses a great History Museum

Atop the clock tower

Traditional Romanian food : MÄmÄligÄ

Another traditional Romanian food : Mititei

The old streets, old houses, as well as some of the cobbled pavements in the old town really remind me of Lijiang in Yunnan China!

As night falls ..... no, those are not vampire bats... just lots of noisy crows of some sort!

Lots of medieval feel in the streets at night!

On the stroke of midnight, the figurines will rotate - there are 7 figurines, each representing a day.
