Main Batad Viewpoint
My guesthouse for my Batad stay
The famous amphitheatre like Batad rice terraces
The view from my room window, straight to the rice terraces!!
Golden evening light
Cloudy twilight... during mornings and evenings, mists start gathering at the valley
Early morning sunlight on the terraces
Hillside Inn itself
Boys who wanted their photos taken on my trek through the village and waterfall
My guide Hubert
If you see carefully, the stones in the terrace walls are built with "steps" portruding out so that you can climb the terraces
Some of the local houses
Tappia waterfall, one of the attractions in Batad
Can just enjoy a rest in the shed, with the cool water spray from the waterfall
Enterprising lady opening a "store" at the shed
Other travellers arriving and enjoying the waterfall
Although my boots are waterproof, I had to take it off to cross to the shed, as the water is easily above ankle high
The position of the shed and the waterfall...
The most photographed Batad old man.....
Other tourists trekking the terraces
Local children
One of the common meals in Philippines, garlic rice, sausages and mixed vegetables
They have that *everywhere*
A strange flower plant with cotton like fiber inside the "ball"
The mists arrive again
The locals are all chewing betelnut with the green leaves. And the red spit is everywhere! The brown leaves on the right are tobacco, and the packet of white stuff is actually powdered snail shell, according to my guide!! You smoke that powdered stuff...
Took a trek out of Batad to the village of Banga-an instead of going back the Batad Saddle way.
