Eger

Right out of airport, we came to Gödöllo palace

There is a park around the palace which we didn't really explore

The royal palace also houses a museum. More information can be found here http://www.kiralyikastely.hu/index.php?l=english

Gift shop in the palace has some pretty stuff

Like these dolls!

Our first accommodation in Hungary, a place called Nomad Hotel and Campsite in the village of Noszvaj

It's a family run establishment, with Barbara, our main host for the stay. She said we're the first Singaporean to stay in her place!!

Our dinner is cooked by Barbara's mum. Look at that sumptuous platter!

It's unfortunate that our first day was rainy and gloomy, but things can only get better!

We were supposed to visit Eger town, but decided to stay in Noszvaj as Eger is supposedly a touristy town, and so accommodations are more expensive

No regrets, as Nomad hotel is cosy and the surrounds are pretty

Eger is wine region, and one of the more famous winery is Thummerer Pince. However, we couldn't make an appointment to visit the cellar as the owner was busy!! (pince means cellar)

Signs of autumn in the northern Uplands of Hungary

As we travel to Eger town, we passed by several vineyards. Check out the grapes!

Check out the autumn foliage, on the vines!

Statue at Dobo square. Eger town, like many European cities/towns, have lots of statues

Eger is indeed a pretty town!

Had a light lunch in this delightful little cafe restaurant. Really looks like a painting huh!

Entrance to Eger Castle

Tasting of Forralt Bor (some sort of heated wine!) and Must (some sort of grape juice!)
