Budapest

The Frankfurt airport walkway

Our sleeper train compartment from Brasov to Budapest

Outside Keleti train station (eastern station in Budapest)

A very delightful chocolate cafe that warms our cold windy arrival. The Aztek Choxolat Cafe is very cosy and half the shop is filled with wide varieties of chocolate and spices!

Their signature chocolate coffee

Alot of Budapest architecture includes these statuettes and figurines from Roman and Greek art

Something like the Orchard Rd in Budapest

You would have never guessed, but this statue in jester hat is known as the "Little Princess". In the background is Buda castle

Check out the graffiti!

The leaves are falling in autumn.....

But the flowers in the parks are still vibrant, and looks really nice among the fallen autumn leaves

One of the restaurants recommended by our guidebook, Fészek, it serves traditional Hungarian fare

Some rosé wine to accompany our meal

Ghoulash, looks same everywhere, but taste better than alot

The glorious light during late afternoon is wonderful!

Central Market Hall, which was closing when we arrive....

The Central Market Hall building certainly looks impressive!

The streets at night

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge at night

Night view of Buda Castle

Beautiful graffiti on the underground pedestrian walkway in Buda

The Parliament building at night

The funicular/tram that goes up Buda Hill. We walked.

Széchenyi Chain Bridge and Pest, viewed from top of Buda

Square outside Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion

The Matthias Church, under renovation!!

Regretted not trying the Marzipan Museum...

I was on the Chain bridge.....

The Opera House

Fozelékfaló Ételbár, an eatery frequented by many locals

It serves Fozelék, a national dish, and our guidebook says, "if you have not tried it, you have not officially been to Hungary".. :)

Fozelék is a cross between a soup and a stew (reminds me of some sort of gruel), and comes with several varieties. This is the spinach version. There are peas, potatoes, chicken Fozelék etc as well

Of course, they serve other foods to go with your Fozelék. There are Hungarian crepes (palacsinta) too

Back at Ferihegy airport :(

Right on the very last day, just before going to the airport, we finally found this Turó Rudi, a chocolate covered cream-cheese bar. This very Hungarian sweets is loved by locals and supposedly only found in Hungary.
